I have had to take the greyhound to the vet today. She has been hobbling for 2 days so I put a poultice on it, but that didn't work. It turns out she has an infection that travelled up her claw and into her foot - 10 days of antibiotics. I guess that short visit will cost me dear! I don't know where the time has gone I have been full up with punters and am absolutely puffed out - but rich!
I went to another party and yes we had the staple party food again. There were about 100 of us and no table plan thank goodness. I looked at the assembled crowd and had no intention of sitting next to 80% of them. I managed to manoeuvre myself about the place until I was sitting on a very good table (of which there were only two). Phew! I was sitting next to Felicity and a good horse crowd. Felicity had the bad luck to take everything on offer and said the Coronation chicken was as hard as bullets. That serves her right!
I hurried off down the country to pick up some furniture that had been on order for 8 weeks, the painter has been in and finished off my little job so now I just have to coordinate the other tradesmen and hopefully next project will be finished by the weekend. Mid week I tootled off to lunch with Cecily and Maud to my favourite beach cafe, blissful the sun was shining and the seafood was simply delicious, yet again - I could live down there. Maud had had some Australians staying and on the morning of departure the chap said he wasn't feeling too well - Can't have been her breakfast as he didn't eat it! Anyway they paid up and left but an hour later returned to see if they could stay another night as he was still feeling poorly - then presto - right in front of Maud's eyes he collapsed. Maud rang for an ambulance, he had no pulse! Next thing the air ambulance turned up and much to Maud's annoyance landed right in her newly planted maize crop. The chap had had a massive heart attack! No wonder he wasn't feeling very well! Fancy having a dead 'un on the doorstep. We did all wonder what happened to him next - was he shipped home whole or do you suppose he was cremated and taken home as ashes. If that were to happen to me I would go home as ashes - it would be cheaper on the plane!
Camilla has given me her old mobile and when she transferred my numbers they all went hickledy pickledy. It took me three hours to re-arrange them - it would probably have been quicker to start from scratch. Today it's her birthday and I am still no nearer to getting grand children, but I suppose she has a boyfriend so that's a start!
Oh dear oh dear, poor old Charlie. What a frightful scandal - fancy having your wife being plastered all over the newspapers, all over the internet and the television, day after day and then being arrested for 12 hours - what must he be thinking? The Duchess and I are keeping a close eye on matters!
