I have been very remiss at keeping my diary. It's not easy when one is flat out with work! I can't exactly remember what has been going on for the past week but the nags went off into training. I says nags, the posh one and now his brother who is the apple of my eye, which probably means he will be a pile of old rubbish - time will tell. I phoned my trainer to see how they were settling in and poor loves they have had their herpes jabs so have been on the walker for several days! It has to be done you never know what germs you may catch at the races!
I met Victoria for lunch mid week. When her dog died 6 months ago she said that was it. Well that wasn't it - she has just got herself another one (well she picks it up next week). It is a Parsons Terrier bitch and is going to be called Gertrude, Gertie for short - I knew she couldn't live without one.
I have had the best guests staying at the moment. They have come from overseas for a Dressage competition which means they never eat breakfast as they have to be at the stables to feed their nags first thing - well obviously the horses come first. I am going to watch them when their slot comes up as Emily and Camilla have been talking of taking up dressage. It is a discipline I have never mastered - I never know which leg is leading underneath me half the time and who can do a 'flying change'! Camilla can - she was very good at it in her pony club days.
Antoinette and I went out to the pub to meet Betty who is over from Spain - she flew out at 6.30a.m. this morning! I mean who in their right mind flies at that time of the day? As we parked in the car park there was a sign saying 'free pudding for the over 60's'.
We had a very good meal and much laughter. The young girl behind the bar told Betty how much she loved her boots and trousers. That's a compliment for us old 'uns when the youngsters covet our clothes. Betty was wearing 5" heels and drainpipe trousers - I am sure I don't know how she managed to stay upright - My days of teetering in such shoes are long gone. Too much time spent in muckers and wellies if you ask me! Under NO circumstances would Betty let us have a pudding - she was not going to declare our ages at any cost! It was decided that Antoinette and I shall visit her at the end of September for a few days. We are going to go riding in the Sierra Nevada mountains (Betty lives in the mountains), well that is to say Betty and I are going riding, Antoinette is going to lounge by the infinity pool with a bottle of vino. I have no clue if I can even get into my jodhpurs - not more dieting!
