I have deposited 2 more squirrels at the top of Cecily's garden in the last couple of days. Sybil phoned to say she is off to Herefordshire for a few days on garden business which is fine as I will be in France. We are going to a charity luncheon on our return - ladies who lunch - very Beverley Hills! Camilla has just texted me to say she is sitting in the departure lounge of Milan airport and the plane is on time. Thank the lord for that otherwise I would have guests and no-one to check them in. I am full up tonight so she will have to get her act into gear after all that posing she has been doing all weekend.
I am like some bloody PA to the Ridley Tiddley's. This morning I managed to get hold of the locksmith as he was passing the door and he kindly came and picked their safe lock. That sorted out they have now decided to go and buy a mobile phone.. This could be interesting as they are both deaf, but I will let the man in the Vodaphone shop figure that out. Mr RT was telling me this morning that he is a little deaf because he was blown up in his Sherman tank - pow! It's just as well Antoinette and I are off to France as the advance party to reckie out the German's before the old boys set off at the weekend. Charles is very bossy, so I'm sure he will take control. They have been going over to France annually for some 15 years but to date have never come back with even one solitary German! It's akin to Dad's Army, but probably worse! Can you imagine going on holiday with 10 old farts?
The old gay 'stick' checked out but wanted to leave his luggage until this evening - what does he think I run a baggage drop! Anyway after he had paid he said his stay 'has been wonderful - you are like a Queen Bee' - well I know that anyway, but kind of him to say. I have just had a cancellation this weekend. The chap rang up to say his brother had just died - as the chap is 77, I tend to believe this story, and I can tell you I have heard them all! It is most inconvenient but it goes with the territory.
I have had to cancel lunch today with the Duchess who has just returned from Paris where her horse was running at the weekend. It was beaten a short head, what a blighter. This is very annoying but I have run out of time and there are not enough hours in the day to get everything done. I was out in the field until nearly dark last evening with the lawnmower knocking off the tops of the creep thistles - it just seemed quicker than getting out the tractor and topper. With all this busyness going on I have lost 5lb in a week, I am starving hungry but thin, well thinnish and I suppose it will all go back on in the next few days!
